Neither this nor That

Neither/Nor undercuts everything. These two words take us

close to the ineffable the inexpressible.

Neither/Nor opens up the realm of double negation -

neither this nor that.

Every polarity is mutually negated.

There is nowhere to stand here, no place for a point of view.

Like a reflection in the mirror, you can’t say it is real and you can’t say it is not real. The reflection of your face in the mirror has no existence independent of you. And it exists as a real reflection.

Like the mirage shimmering in the heat, despite its appearance you know it's not really water, merely a trick of the light. Yet you cannot say it's not real; it is a real mirage.

To make any assertion is to miss it. And to deny anything is to miss it. Like the wind you cannot see it, yet its presence cannot be denied.

Open up to the spaciousness that Neither/Nor is pointing to. Without holding a point of view or taking a stand,

sense its presence in graciousness and lightness of being.

There is neither enlightenment nor absence of enlightenment. There is no end point or beginning.
